Dominic not only hosted but he helped us set up with time to spare. The place was clean and spacious, he was very welcoming to guests and other professionals we hired. I would absolutely recommend this space especially if you have parking concerns for large groups. And if you want to encourage dancing there's plenty of space for seating and a dance floor.

Find Gym locations

Who says gym locations are only for those who want to remain fit or achieve their weight loss goals? More than a place filled with cardio machines, weights, and dumbbells, gyms have served as a multipurpose space for social and corporate events, from fitness classes and workshops to birthday parties, photo/film shoots, and business meetings.

The Best Events for Gym Locations

It can be fitness-related, but there are many other activities and social gatherings you can host at a gym venue. Some give the option to rent the facility for one-time events like seminars, workshops, and private parties while others accommodate production requirements for a web series shoot, documentary, feature film, etc.

Documentary Shoot
Perhaps you have a compelling subject that’s best captured in a fitness center or are making a health documentary to inspire, motivate, and educate. Gyms are fantastic locations for documentaries because they provide a controlled environment for filming. Most gyms are also found in central areas near shopping and dining options.

Photo Shoot
Many photographers like to work in a studio space, but some projects, like a commercial photo shoot, clothing shoot, and product shoot, work well in gym locations. Don’t limit your creative potential by sticking to the traditional or what’s popular. Explore unique places to get a new perspective.

Fitness Video
There's no better place to create a fitness video than a gym or any fitness-related facility. You'll immediately be in the zone as soon as you enter with all the exercise tools and equipment.

Music Video Shoot
A gym's versatile and open space makes it a sought-after location for music videos, no matter the genre or atmosphere you're trying to create for the song. Your team can maximize the space for dancing and filming.

Fitness Class
When not used as an event space or for a fashion shoot, gyms host fitness classes with the help of a qualified trainer. You can plan a group class or one-on-one training for various levels and ages.

What to Look for in Gym Locations

When looking for corporate or private event rentals, you must know what you want and what to expect during the process. The same goes when searching for a gym venue. Here are a few aspects to consider:

Adequate Lighting
Is the gym well-lit, or does it require additional lighting equipment? If you don't want to spend extra cash installing new lights or hiring a technician, look for a bright enough gym space, especially when it's used for photo shoots. Some have huge windows and high ceilings that allow in natural light throughout the day, which means you won't need to invest in pricey artificial light sources.

Flexible Spaces
You'll find fitness centers with individual studios or separate gym areas that can accommodate multiple room bookings. Others, on the other hand, only have one large, open space you can transform into a functional venue for your next event. Prioritize a flexible space that you can design and decorate based on your needs and budget.

Temperature Control
Nobody wants to gather or work in a scorching or freezing place, so prioritize comfort when looking for a gym. Imagine your clients sweltering in their formal attires during a portrait photo shoot or your models chilling while posing for a summer apparel shoot. The gym space must have a quality HVAC system so that you can control the temperature in the room.

Facilities
Check what facilities and amenities they have that would suit your event or training requirements. See if there are functional training areas, exercise equipment and studios, showers, and locker rooms. You might also need a mirrored wall or sound system, depending on what activity or event you plan to use the gym for.

How to Make Gym Location Events Better

Whether you're trying to increase fitness class attendance or update the space to make it more functional and improve its versatility, there are plenty of ways to enhance your gym location for events. Maximize the venue with these creative ideas:

Technology
Incorporate new technology or update your old ones to keep up with the booming events and fitness industry. It can include wearable trackers, exercise machines with interactive screens, and a gym management system to help you handle daily operations. You can also invest in AV equipment, which is a must for social and corporate events like seminars, workshops, birthday parties, and bridal showers.

Healthy Refreshments
Set up a juice bar with nutritious beverages and light snacks to replenish and refuel guests or members. Since it’s a fitness facility, it’s important to provide healthy food options like fruits and salads, but don’t hesitate to ask attendees what they want or work with a professional chef or nutritionist to help you create a delightful menu everyone will love.

Design and Layout
Your goal is to have a functional and aesthetically pleasing gym layout that will attract guests and visitors. To achieve this, consider updating the gym’s design and layout. You might need to add separate rooms for breakout sessions and a spacious area for meetings and gatherings.

Sound System
Good music and superior sound quality are always a must in any venue, including gym spaces. Upgrade your studio’s sound system to provide an immersive audio experience and keep everyone engaged throughout the event.

Outdoor Access
Create an outdoor space or give your guests access to an open-air area to chill, hang out, or even exercise. It doesn’t have to be large—you can set aside a small social spot like an outdoor lounge or terrace where people can mingle and socialize.

Build Your Gym Location Team

It can be tricky to organize a party, film/photo shoot, or any corporate affair in an unconventional event space like a gym. However, the process becomes more manageable and easier if you have the right team on your side to help you from start to finish.

Equipment Supplier
Whether you want to buy brand-new gym equipment or rent high-quality fitness facilities at a fraction of the cost, local suppliers have you covered. They're your one-stop destination for anything fitness- and event-related.

Interior Designer
You want your gym space to be attractive, functional, and safe, and an experienced interior designer can help you achieve that. Work closely with this creative professional to choose decorative items that match the event and fit your budget.

Lighting Specialist
Every type of activity or event has certain lighting requirements. For instance, energetic parties require bright and colorful lights to bring excitement; conference rooms may need ambient life for overall visibility, and a headshot photography session or promotional photo shoot benefits from a lighting setup that focuses on the subject. Discuss with your lighting specialist what lighting system will work for your project or activity.

Photographer
For a photo shoot, product launch, gala, or seminar at the gym, hire a photographer for professional quality photos you can use for marketing or publicity purposes.

Personal Trainer
If you're renting a gym space for a fitness class or workout program, be sure a fitness instructor or personal trainer is available. They can design training sessions and customize them to individual or group needs.

Benefits of Booking Your Gym Location Early

How many of you make the mistake of waiting too long to book a particular venue until it’s too late? Here are several reasons why it makes sense to reserve that gym location well in advance:

Availability
If you wait until closer to the big day before making a reservation, you might miss out on the perfect setting for your birthday party, fashion shoot, or video shoot. All sought-after spots are fully booked, so you have to settle for what’s available.

Cost Savings
The venue is often the largest expense in event budgets, so you’ll want to cut costs as much as possible without compromising quality or experience. You have a higher chance of saving more money when you book a gym location early when rental prices are lower. You’ll also be able to compare more options and find affordable venues for any budget.

Great Deals
Many gym locations offer packages, great discounts, and other deals for those who book early. You’ll miss out on these incentives and discounts if you want until the last minute. Early booking also gives you time to negotiate and get the best price possible.

Effective Planning
Putting together a production project or event is no easy task, but the more time you have to plan and coordinate with the right people, the better. With the gym location already booked, you have one crucial aspect out of the way that allows you to move on to other essential planning elements.

Flexibility
You might have to change your date and time or alter the activities you planned for the event or shoot. It might be too late to make those changes closer to the event date. But if you book early, the gym location might be able to adjust accordingly.

How to Use Unique Gym Locations

Gyms aren’t just a place to exercise and build your physique—there are multiple creative ways to use unique fitness studios and gym locations.

Personalize the space to host seasonal events like Halloween and Thanksgiving. Make your own playlist to have music playing in the background and decorate the gym using flowers, balloons, and streamers, depending on the type of event and budget. You can also invite a DJ to play for the evening and create a fun party atmosphere.

If you’re not fond of festive parties, you can rent the space for other sports- or fitness-related activities such as yoga classes, ping-pong competitions, and health and fitness food fairs. Learn from a quality professional on a trainer workshop or transform your gym location into an obstacle course for younger participants.

How about a creative studio to display your artwork, an MMA space for sparring, or set up soccer facilities indoors? There’s no limit to what you can do or use the gym location for, so don’t be afraid to explore other possibilities and options you might haven’t tried before.
